challenges

WWW Wednesday (Sept. 18 2019)

Wow, a bonus post! This is a challenge hosted by Taking On a World of Words. The goal is to answer three main questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

So, with that…

What are you currently reading?

My current read is The Babysitter by Sheryl Browne. Honestly, I don’t think I’d ever get to reading this one. It seemed like a mass-market printing that was only available online, and on the British version of Amazon at that. I find so many interesting books there but they’re rarely ever at Barnes and Noble, and sometimes they’re hard to find in the USA period. I was so lucky to have found this one on my latest bookstore excursion.

In this novel, a couple takes in a babysitter but the babysitter may not be who she seems. That premise alone sounds made for me. There’s also something about her having watched her house burn down, but there is a prologue as well and I’m not sure how those characters factor in yet. So much suspense…

What did you recently finish reading?

I recently finished The Night Before by Wendy Walker. This was such a hard book to review…I didn’t love it, but I couldn’t find ways to express it in words either! Overall, it seemed kind of messy with the writing and too many issues were included, but it did do one particular thing better than many psychological suspense novels I’ve read recently…but I don’t want to give too much away in this post! I haven’t discussed it yet.

Look for the review to be out tomorrow (Thursday 9/19).

What do you think you’ll read next?

Funny story: when I bought The Babysitter, I didn’t realize there was another novel included. It’s called The Affair, and I’m skeptical because affairs bore me. I also can’t stand characters who willingly cheat. But it’s 2 books for the price of one, so I have to try it, right?

What is everyone else reading? Be sure to check out the original blog link on top of this post if you’re interested in learning more about this challenge.
